Hello Mustard Seed Family!
This month in September we would like to shine light on a person who is very adaptable and reliable, Cherice Hazley. She serves as our Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and Lab Director. Cherice has been with Mustard Seed Community Health Clinic since November in 2017. In her role, she serves as Dr. Beth Mulberry’s right-hand woman. She prepares the room and patients for Dr. Mulberry, which could be drawing blood, asking questions, or sanitizing things prior to or after a visit. Along with making sure supplies are stocked and ready for use. She enjoys that Mustard Seed is passionate about helping the community to have access to resources they may not have if Mustard Seed was not in the middle of the community. They do their best to find the most effective but least medicine for patients to meet them where they are.
In Cherice’s free time she enjoys the company of her family and friends, while most likely shopping, watching movies, or just relaxing with them. Since the pandemic, she has been online shopping may be too much but that is an adjustment she is making. 🙂 She is rooted in her faith and working every day to strengthen her faith more and more. When she was younger she was interested in being a Psychologist, she even began that route at Bennett College. When asked what the title of her autobiography would be she said, “Cherice, She May Bend but She Will Not Break”. She based this on the fact she has been through a lot in her life but that helped shape who she is today. She knows whatever does not kill her, will only make her stronger. Cherice is a prime example of a strong woman who can overcome many obstacles. For that, we will forever be grateful for Cherice and the spirit she brings to the clinic. Thank you, Cherice, you are appreciated greatly!
Lastly, be on the lookout for our annual Fall Fundraiser Event. As we adapt with the times and we are excited to share what we have in store. If you like art, music, and anything community-related you wouldn’t want to miss this great event. The best part is you will be able to participate from the comfort of your home! Continue practicing social distancing, wear your mask, and wash your hands often.
